Behind the Seams, an Interview with Vanessa Lingham

Today we are delighted to present Richard’s chat with Vanessa Lingham.

Vanessa is a costume lecturer at the prestigious GUILDHALL SCHOOL in London working on the BA (Hons) Production Arts course (costume pathway).

With an MA in the History and Culture of Fashion from the London College of Fashion, she went on to spend 15 years in the freelance costume industry.  During that time she also worked in the BBC costume department and as a costumier at Angels.

It’s clear that Vanessa places great value on education and is herself, whilst working at Guildhall, pursuing a PhD.  She is passionate about ensuring her costume students understand every aspect of the industry and throughout their studies encourages them to explore all the processes and resources available.
